Cancellation Policy

. Booking & Payments Reservations: Due to the remote location, advanced booking is highly recommended. Some operators require a minimum of 24–48 hours' notice. Deposit: Large-scale activities (like multi-day surf camps or private boat charters) often require a non-refundable deposit (typically 20-30%) to secure your date. Payment Methods: Most established tour operators accept credit cards and mobile payments (NFC). However, smaller local guides may only accept Cash (USD or Costa Rican Colones). 2. Cancellation & Refunds Standard Cancellation: Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance usually receive a full refund (minus transaction fees). Last-Minute: Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are typically non-refundable. Weather Policy: If a tour is canceled by the operator due to unsafe weather conditions (common during the heavy rainy season), you are usually entitled to a full refund or a free reschedule. 3. Safety & Requirements Physical Requirements: High-intensity tours (hiking to the waterfall or long-distance surfing) require participants to be in good physical health. You must disclose any medical conditions beforehand. Gear: For ATV or Horseback tours, closed-toe shoes and long pants are often mandatory for safety. Helmets and safety briefings are provided by the guide. Insurance: Most licensed operators carry basic liability insurance, but it is standard practice in Costa Rica for travelers to have their own personal travel/medical insurance. 4. Eco-Tourism & Conduct Wildlife Interaction: Pavones is a biodiversity hotspot. Policies strictly prohibit feeding, touching, or harassing wildlife (monkeys, sloths, macaws). Waste Management: Most operators follow a "Leave No Trace" policy. You are expected to carry out any trash you bring in. Community Respect: Large groups are encouraged to keep noise levels down to respect the tranquil nature of the local village. 5. Tipping (Gratuity) While not mandatory in Costa Rica, it is customary to tip guides 10-15% for exceptional service, especially for private boat captains or wildlife spotting guides.
